Despite having lower global awareness, Burundi specialty grade coffee is regarded for exceptional, complex, clean coffees. As of 2008, they are allowed to make direct sales to international buyers.

This coffee was pulped, dry fermented for 12 hours, and then washed in mountain water for 12-24 hours. The beans then soak for 12-18 hours before being dried on raised beds. In the cup we find crisp apple acidity upfront, leading to a tannic middle, and turmeric earthy like finish.
